Recording part 2

Recording continues...

Some folks have asked why we are taking so long to record 'Orbit 'Round Me', a new tune. We have taken more than a month (but we only record on weekends lah...). I'll say we want to get it perfect. We've scrapped the original recording and redone it again. We are almost done in terms of the instrumentation: the overdubs, additional layers, etc. except for the vocals and live percussion bits.

When they ask, "Why are you going to bounce the tracks down to 44.1kHz, 16-bit to SONAR 3 and mix then if you are going for perfection?" That's when I poke the muthafucka's eyes out...

Always good to have a light-hearted moment before we start recording.

Highly primitive way of getting stereo/ ping-pong signals. We panned one mike hard left and the other hard right.

I love recording...

Hmmm... part 2

Recently, there's a big hoo-haa over the upcoming Sembawang Fest. Honestly, this is the best name for a music-related event since Swing Singapore. I sure ain't smoking what they were smoking when they conjured up that name.

Every dodgy gig organiser knows that in order to be dodgy, you need to cover your tracks well enough. Sembawang Fest was the brainchild of Malcolm Davies who is the owner of the Prince Of Wales backpacker hotel. Check out his site for the festival.

What really cheesed me off was that in his fucken shitty press release which I've received. It was slated to be a music festival celebrating Singapore music. Instead, all I see are Aussie acts which I've never even heard of in my life headlining the show. But of course, he changed his tune on his official site which didn't mention the local music slant at all.

Our local boys and girls are paid jackshit or not at all. Where is the fucken justification that when he actually said this on his site: We are firmly committed to our local acts which are at an international level.

Then why are some of my friends not offered payment for their performances at all? This guy is a fucker!

The only redeeming thing about him is that he sells Grand Ridge ale which rocks.

Hmmm...

I didn't know about this.

Read about it here.

Fucken Aussie!!!

CAMRA have cancelled. And frankly this is piss-poor. A lot of money and time was spent to promote this act, and with one week out, they have cancelled due to "work commitments". This band will never play The POW again.

Thank God!!! His venue sucks...

Check out the rest of that ficken Aussie's shit at his shitty website here.

When you don't succeed the 1st time, try again...

So who wants to go JB and makan seafood. Don't say this weekend cuz I is broke. How about next Sat?

Actually, I overheard Keishi thinking of organising a trip up to KL soon. I dunno about that as the Lunarin folks have been trying to organise a shopping trip up here as well. I is in dire need of a holiday.

However, I heard that American slowcore band Low is going to play in a festival in KL on Jan 7. I hope it goes through. Maybe, that will be the best time to go up.

Oh wait, we are opening for Lunarin for their album launch. Hmmmm... crap.

Hmmmm...

I've always thought that Kacy from one of my favourite bands, furniture bears a more-than-strong resemblance to my army mate Edwin Chan Chee "B" Seng. I dunno why but the resemblance is uncanny in my eyes.

Blogging...

Most people blog about what they do everyday and shit like that. Surprisingly, I don't. Most folks blog about their feelings and all. Somehow, I used to put pictures of half-naked chicks in the past. Strangely, that has died out. Interestingly, I'm in a state of (to quote my fellow alpha males) "not feeling very emotion". But there's one feeling I'm having right now which I wish to share...

Hungry.

Time to look for food...

WTF???

My colleague just let me see what an applicant wrote in his cover letter to apply as an accounts assistant for the company.

... My strength is even if I don't know something, probably, I will still say I know everything...

What the fuck?!?!?

Is it me or...

Frank Black of American indie rock legends The Pixies is starting to resemble deceased movie legend Marlon Brando in more ways than ever?

Hmmmm...

Everyone has a blog...

That's right... Looks who's joined the fray.

Mandy the M.I.L.F.

Doris, bride-to-be

Adriana, martial status unconfirmed

This reminds me... of the fact that women loves talking and would use any channels to communicate. Then again, so would I. Hmmm...

Hey, I didn't read this in the papers...

The outgoing US ambassador to Singapore has criticised the city-state's restrictions on free speech in a rare public rebuke by a US official of one of Washington's closest Asian allies.

Ambassador Frank Levin said Singapore's 20th-century political model may prove inadequate for the 21st century, warning that the government "will pay an increasing price for not allowing full participation of its citizens."

Yeeyong trying out some of the "gadgets" he brought down for recording...

This was probably 4th hour of reaching The Mustachio Lothario aka Weiyuan's place. Not a single note recorded yet. I think we took a lunch break or a smoke break after this...

Me... listening to Alvin sequencing some old skool hip-hop. Westside 4eva!!!

Went CD shopping today and got myself a few CDs. Got a pair of new disposable contacts. Thinking of getting a new pair of sneakers next week. And I haven't picked up my HK swordfighting comics yet!!!

I'll love to get this to coincide with the album release... which reminds me. The album Love Kraft is out for a month plus and I didn't even know!!! Think I'm gonna get it later.
